Author's description 

"X means possibility, unknowability, flexibility, and variability. There is no permanent environment in life, and viruses can evolve at any time, and humans can survive with superb adaptability. So it is with architecture and life. Flexible boundaries allow architecture to adapt to the evolution of infectious diseases, and indeterminate spaces allow inhabitants to provide endless possibilities for architecture. Variable nature allows architecture to evolve with society and its inhabitants.

Architecture is no longer a product of social isolation, standing upright in place. The housing problem is a product of history, geography, economics, and humanity. Public housing plays the role of a social buffer. It does not seek immediate results, but always adjusts to social conflicts, whether they are housing problems or epidemics. Its blurred boundaries are full of resilience and buffering. It is the public property of the whole Hong Kong society.

The form and use of the building is not dictated from top to bottom by the architect. Individualized needs are the main factor in determining the nature of the building. The architect is more of a regulator and facilitator. (...) "

"The jury recognises in this work a strong visionary force as well as the examination of a socially highly relevant topic: housing and isolation in pandemic times. It designs a futuristic scenario of living under pandemic conditions."
