Advance! Review - Summer School 2024
International Summer School
HOSPITAL + THE CITY
An interdisciplinary approach to hospital planning in the urban context
From July 21st to 26th, the international Summer School HOSPITAL + THE CITY took place in Berlin. Six days filled with inspiring lectures, engaging discussions, creative workshops, and impressive site visits – all focused on the future of hospital planning.
The Summer School brought together over 20 participants from 12 nations, representing a rich diversity of professional backgrounds, including seasoned experts, students, and doctoral candidates.
The participants explored the intersection of healthcare, architecture, urban planning, and health management, developing their own concept ideas for the Charité Campus Benjamin Franklin. At the end of the week, they presented these ideas to members of Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, TU Berlin, and the ENAH Advisory Board. The week included group work, lectures by renowned experts, and an on-site visits.
We would like to thank Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Technische Universität Berlin for their excellent cooperation, as well as the Hans und Christine Nickl Stiftung for their generous support of two students through their scholarship program.
