Reassembling Care
Supervisor: Chris Smith / Rose McEnery
University of Sydney
The focus of his project lies in the adaptation and reuse of historic buildings. Through an intensive analysis of the existing buildings and spaces, the project develops appropriate architectural interventions that define a Youth Mental Health Care Facility. Additionally, flexible timber modules create a structure that sensitively relates to the existing buildings, remains adaptable, and maintains its own architectural language. The choice of materials for the interiors, their arrangement, and the compelling visualisations give the project a high degree of credibility and demonstrate strong user acceptance in the eyes of the jury. The new mental health centre presents itself as a well-integrated architectural addition within the campus, creating high-quality new spaces for the immediate neighbourhood and the city.
